Many of us experience times in our life when we are unsure on our direction and this can create discomfort. We are not sure about the person we want to be or why we behave in certain ways.
Therapy can help us identify our values in different domains of our life such as parenting, relationships, work and health. We can then hold these lightly and use them like a guiding compass.
Values are statements about how you want to behave, how you desire to act, they’re not about what you should do or have to do, they’re about what is right for you. They are chosen desired qualities.
Goals are things you are aiming for in the future, things you want to get, achieve, or have. Values however are how you want to behave now, and for an ongoing basis and for the rest of your life. And moreover, how you want to behave when pursing your goals.
